A difficult fight
It is a shocking testimony that we deliver Yannick and Diane in "11 months of hell!". It all starts with a simple walk in the forest at the end of 2013, and a tick bite. The boy, then 12, contracted Lyme disease without knowing it. It is triggered a few days later by symptoms resembling the flu. Having more and more difficult to walk, he is hospitalized, it is the beginning of 11 months of ordeal. No doctor diagnosed the disease, Yannick weighed only 29 kilos and became almost quadriplegic. The doctors say that his case is psychiatry. Mistreated, inconsiderate, he will owe his recovery to the association Lyme sans Frontières that his parents contact, after seeing a report on television. It is Professor Christian Perronne who will save him.
An insidious disease
Transmitted exclusively by a tick bite, very difficult to diagnose, Lyme disease makes more and more victims in France. Not cared for, she is very dangerous and can reach the nervous system. Ticks can be found in forests and woods, but also more and more in city gardens. The tick preferably stings the lower limbs, and the first symptom appears in the form of a red spot, it is then immediately necessary to consult, especially if a fever accompanies it. But its symptoms are not specific, which is why it is difficult to diagnose, because they can evoke other diseases, such as psychological cases or fibromyalgia. That's what happened to Yannick, when a simple antibiotic treatment is enough to cure it.
These are all the stages of his fight, told in this book, that allow us to shed more light on this disease, which can affect everyone, and be contracted during a banal walk to the green. A poignant testimony, which opens our eyes.
