The best known is Airbnb, which is a site for renting private apartments that is growing in size, for its attractive price and the experience it promises. However, faced with the response of the hotels, the measures became restrictive and "anti-airbnb" brigades appeared, notably in Paris, to compel the renters of private apartments to declare their activity with their town hall under pain of sanctions.
Faced with this phenomenon, two other services have developed strongly: Aparthotel Adagio and Abritel. An overview of these new ways of housing in large cities:
- Airbnb
The principle is simple: it is a "business" from particular to particular. The person rents his apartment for a period he determines, from the studio to the family apartment. Some people like the apartment rental site for its practicality and its reasonable price, which defies all competition, especially if it is a studio or an apartment away from the tourist sites, but others will not like for the fact that one can have the feeling of living in others. It is for this reason that there are two types of apartments: those actually occupied by families and those totally uncluttered hotel style, only used for Airbnb.
The price is very good, the offer is very wide, so you can choose your preferred area depending on the type of trip (tourist, business), perfect immersion (the feeling of being a resident of the city you are visiting).
The -: you are not guaranteed of the cleanliness, you can have bad surprises (water leaks, unchanged sheets), the delivery of the keys can be complicated according to the schedules, since there is not reception.
- Aparthotel Adagio
For the reluctant to Airbnb, who would not trust, who would be afraid to sleep in unchanged sheets (it happens ...) or who would be uncomfortable lodging in an apartment filled with personal belongings, Aparthotel Adagio is the right compromise. Here you rent a studio (relatively large, about 35 m2) or an apartment with a number of rooms to choose from. The result: a modern and functional apartment rental with kitchen and storage, also daily necessities (appliances, ironing board, cupboards, ...) so that you feel at home, to cook in the evening when the envy takes you, invites you, lounging in the lounge before joining the room. All in all, the Airbnb with the cleanliness and the guarantee of a hotel and its services (maid, reception, reception). To know that the price is decreasing from the 4th night, making it convenient and profitable for long stays ...
The : you are at home, but it is not you who do the housework. It is an apartment with the services of a hotel.
The -: more expensive than Airbnb, equivalent to the price of a hotel depending on the size of the apartment.
- Home Away
Abritel is the equivalent of the Aparthotel Adagio, more luxurious. If for Aparthotel Adagio we are faced with a decoration "summary", equivalent to that of classic hotels without frills, Abritel offers a chic, elegant, unique, a little more personalized (thanks to accessories: bouquet of flowers, carpets, cushions, books, incense, candles) in order to feel even more at home. On the price side, they are worth those of Airbnb, from 80 euros for smaller spaces up to about 200 euros and much more for the larger apartments. HomeAway is a mix between Airbnb (with much more demanding conditions and a luxury spirit) and Aparthotel Adagio, as it is aimed at individuals and real estate agencies who wish to rent a holiday home.
The : a real comfort and good prices, generally lower than those of a hotel.
The : As for Airbnb, the exchange of keys can be binding unlike Aparthotel Adagio which, as a traditional hotel, has a reception.
