Did you know that in 80% of cases, blindness is preventable ? And yet, 285 million people suffer from visual impairment in the world! Primarily in low- and middle-income countries. To combat this scourge, Occitane has made sight one of the priorities of its foundation.

L'Occitane makes sight a priority

In January 2017 , the L'Occitane Foundation decided to get involved by financing projects in Burkina Faso , fighting avoidable blindness and contributing to ophthalmological research and the training of local specialists . If the foundation concentrates its action in Burkina Faso, other countries benefit from this involvement as L'Occitane encourages the projects of its subsidiaries around the world.

A soap to combat visual impairment

And to raise funds, the brand created a solidarity soap , sold for 2 € in store. In return, L'Occitane is committed to donating 100% of the profits (excluding taxes, transport and production costs) to NGOs committed to the fight against avoidable blindness , all over the world. The objective? Allow 10 million people to benefit from care by 2020.

A long-standing commitment

But the solidarity consciousness of the Occitan does not date from today. Since 1997, the cosmetics brand has taken care to make its products accessible to the greatest number of people by integrating Braille on most of its packaging. And since 2000 and the first solidarity product sold in stores, 2 million people have been able to receive eye care thanks to the commitment of the brand in the program "Union for Vison" and the creation of the L'Occitane Foundation in 2006 .
