Leicester City winger Marc Albrighton insists he is happy to use a careful approach as he looks to remain fit for the season.

The former Aston Villa star burst on to the scene with the West Midlands outfit before dropping down the ranks under Paul Lambert.

He joined Leicester in 2014 on a free transfer and has since become a key member of the playing squad.

After helping them win the title in 2016, Albrighton admits he cannot expect to play every week and is happy to look after his body.

With another big campaign expected, the 27-year-old insists he must remain patient as he looks to play a big role throughout the season.

He told the Leicester Mercury: "From my point of view, growing up, you can’t think about things too much, whether that’s being left out the team.

"If you’re on the bench one week, you can’t let it get you down. You pick yourself up and get back in the team and I’ve certainly found out that helps.

"Since I’ve been here, especially in the last two years, it’s been great playing most weeks and enjoying it, getting victories and creating special memories.

"Definitely injury-wise, I’ve been taking more care of my body and making sure that I’m always fit enough to step out on to the field and give myself the best possible chance to have a good game.

"Touch wood, it’s served me well."
