McLaren driver Fernando Alonso concedes he may have to move away from Formula One if he cannot start winning races in his current car.
Alonso has endured a frustrating return to the team he acrimoniously left in 2007, failing to get a single podium in two and a half seasons.
The McLaren car has been dogged by a lack of straight line speed and has had to settle for mid-table mediocrity in the constructors' championship.
There have been small hints of progress for the Woking-based team with both Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne qualifying in the top 10 in Hungary and Alonso finshing sixth.
However, Alonso is still keen to compete at the top and a run out at the Indy 500 in May might spur his decision to move on.
"Formula One is still my priority, it's my life, and winning the world championship is what I'm hoping," Alonso told CNN.
"If I don't see any project that will allow me to fight for the win I will look outside F1."
