American Gods’ first season came to a close last night (July 18), with the eight episodes making up season 1 available for British viewers on Amazon Prime Video now.
One of the stars of the show, Kristin Chenoweth was introduced in the first season as the old god, Easter. Bubbly, energetic and infectious as a character, showrunners Michael Green and Bryan Fuller have confirmed that the actress is just as brilliant in real life.
Fuller said in a chat with Vulture: “I have never met somebody who is so true to her faith and her view of the world and sincerely and authentically believes in the teachings of Christ and applies them to her life on a daily basis like Kristin Chenoweth. She is an authentic Christian. She’s funny and naughty and subversive, and she’s got a wicked sense of humour. She loves horror movies. She loves gore.”
He later added: “And she loves Michael [Green], and now she loves Michael’s daughter. I really can’t say enough about her beyond the shocking authenticity of her character.”
Green confirmed that “she loves Bryan.” He also teased the second season, promising that “we get to find out what it means to be a believer and to give yourself over to a higher power – how far you’re willing to go and how far it can take you.”
American Gods is expected to return for its second season on Starz in the US next year.
