Coronation Street's Samia Longchambon was forced to sit in her dressing room with chocolate milk in her hair for an hour while the film crew broke for lunch.

The 35-year-old actress has thoroughly enjoyed acting out the animosity between her alter-ego Maria Connor and her love rival Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) on screen over the past few weeks and watching the tension grow after the barmaid found out the hairdresser had been sleeping with her fiance Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward).

But, although the milk scene - in which Maria was doused with the thick liquid after she hit a piƱata at Eva's hen do - was fun to act out, Samia has admitted she kept getting an unpleasant smell up her nose for a few days after filming wrapped.

Speaking on 'Loose Women' on Tuesday (19.09.17), she said: "For about two days, I could smell sour milk up my nose because it was actually chocolate milk. And I had to sit in my dressing room over lunch covered in chocolate milk because we broke for lunch and we'd been filming those two scenes and I was like: 'Helloooo?' I was covered and I had to stay like that! It was going warm in my dressing room because I was sitting with my dressing gown on and it was everywhere. Everywhere!"

The tension between Eva and Maria has been getting more intense this week as the brunette beauty attempted to put a stop to her love rival tying the knot with the factory owner but tomorrow night's (20.09.17) double episode will be the one to watch as Maria will fly into a fountain after the knicker-stitcher lunges at her.

Samia explained: "I was ripping out Cath's hair extensions, I was throwing her tiara across the grass, she was dunking my head under the water, we were proper going for it. We properly went in, we were in there for about two-and-a-half hours.

"We had a paramedic on set who said that it's good to drink coke because you might get stomach upsets because it's a real pond. It was clean water but it is a pond so everyone was bringing us bottle of coke."

And, although she already feels "honoured" to be involved in the gripping storyline, Samia hopes the forthcoming episode will go down in soap history.

She said: "It's been brilliant, a real honour as well because it's the six-episode week starting this week, it's been a real honour for us all to be at the centre of it. They have been but Maria has done her bit so she's throwing the match so I can sit back a bit.

"I hope so, that's kind of down to the viewers but when we were filming it, it felt pretty special. I think Aidan should end up alone, he doesn't deserve it. He's been a rat."

Samia has been in the soap for over 17 years and she has no intention of leaving any time soon as she'd like producers to keep throwing gripping storylines at her.

She added: "I was 17, it was more than half of my life there. I love it, it's brilliant and when you're getting storylines like this, it's a real treat. It's a special place to work ... I've been up for it all. This year I've had a cream cake in my face, I've been covered in chocolate milk and I've been thrown in a fountain - and that's only this year! I think they know I'm kind of up for everything."
