Roger Federer believes his ability to "absorb losses" has been key to his revival in 2017.
The veteran Swiss star ended a wait stretching nearly five years for an 18th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open at the start of the year before claiming a 19th at Wimbledon.
Federer, 36, also claimed the Indian Wells, Miami Masters and the Gerry Weber Open titles and is currently number two in the ATP rankings.
The former world number one admits losses still hurt but says he no longer dwells on his defeats and believes that has been crucial in his recent resurgence.
"I have more perspective," he told The Times. "You absorb losses faster and easier, even though it hurts. You move on with it, you know you were well prepared, you know you tried your best.
"Rather than wasting negative energy on something you can’t change anyway, you take it on the chin, you learn from it and move on. Also, I think I need to have that perspective of being a dad of four and having the busy life that I have.
"I need to bounce in and out of situations really quickly to be able to cope with the pressure, the stardom and the travels and all of that."
