"Flowerbykenzo", the poppy featured

"Flowerbykenzo" is based on an original concept: its source of inspiration is the poppy, a flower ... without odor. Funny idea for a perfume, but it is the emblem of the house Kenzo, so why not? The poppy is also a strong symbol: it grows everywhere, even in an urban environment, and therefore represents the inseparable link between nature and the city. To create this fragrance, Alberto Morillas nose combines the spicy and fruity notes of pink berries, blackcurrant and mandarin with a fresh floral heart (hawthorn, jasmine, carnation, violet, pink ...), on a soft and powdery background consisting of white musk and vanilla. Result: a truly original fragrance, which marks the return of powdered notes, then a little neglected because judged too classical. A modern reinterpretation of these notes, which will inspire many other creations like "Miss Me" by Stella Cadente in 2005 or "Baisé volé" by Cartier in 2011.

"Flowerbykenzo", a bottle filled with symbols

The bottle, designed by Serge Mansau, also tells a story. It is presented in three sizes and evokes the different stages of the poppy blossom, but also more than that: it is inspired by a photograph taken by Marc Riboud in the late 1960s, during the Vietnam War, during a peaceful demonstration in Washington. This one is very famous: it features a young woman holding a flower in her hands, alone facing a row of bayonets. The message of the bottle is clear: it is a way of evoking peace but also the reconciliation between the West and the East. In 2001, the brand used the means to make its perfume known: no less than 150,000 poppies are planted on the forecourt of the Pompidou Center! This operation will be repeated in many megacities, from Moscow to Hong Kong via Vienna or Milan. "Flowerbykenzo" remains, today, one of the most sold perfumes in France.
