Eddie Howe says Jordon Ibe has an "exciting future" ahead of him if he can produce consistent performances for Bournemouth.
Ibe joined the Cherries in July 2016 in a reported then club-record £15million deal from Liverpool although he was a peripheral figure last season, with just 13 starts in his 25 Premier League appearances.
The 21-year-old produced a match-winning cameo in the 2-1 win over Brighton in the Premier League on Friday after coming off the bench to provide two assists, and is now expected to start on Tuesday as the Cherries again entertain the Seagulls, this time in the Carabao Cup.
Manager Howe is convinced Ibe has the talent to be a Bournemouth regular if he can stay focused and put in big performances on a consistent basis.
“I think he has shown glimpses of what he is capable of before," said Howe, as reported by the Bournemouth Echo. “This time, you actually had some end product to it which was the pleasing thing.
“It was great to see him come on and have that impact at a time when we really needed it. He was there to ignite the spark we needed.
“He is a player of immense potential. I think the challenge for Jordon is to find that consistency.
"We want Jordon to be a regular first-team player. He has the tools to do it and he has to put that together on a consistent basis.
“We are hoping he has a very exciting future ahead of him but that is going to be dictated by how he works every day, and he needs to keep that focus.”
