And today is the finger of the Afssaps (Health Products Agency) and the DGCCRF (General Directorate of Competition, Consumption and Fraud Prevention) by prohibiting the sale of eight smoothing products used in salons or sold on the Internet.
When they are heated with the smoothing plates in particular, these eight balms give too much concentration of formaldehyde, a carcinogenic substance in the nasopharynx, and also suspected in the cases of leukemia, sinus cancers and nasal cavity. It can also cause ocular and respiratory irritations as well as contact eczema.
To be exposed to these risks, the number of Brazilian smoothing carried out must be very high and the ventilation is insufficient, so they essentially concern the hairdressers who use it daily.
In order to remain cautious, in the event of "eye, respiratory or skin irritations, allergic reactions, during or following a hair smoothing", the authorities advise to consult a doctor quickly.
