Charley Hoffman managed to birdie his final hole on Saturday at the Canadian Open to take a one-stroke lead going into the final round.

The 40-year-old recorded a seven-under 65 to move into the lead and he will be the man to catch on Sunday.

Hoffman fired home six birdies in seven holes before he bogeyed the 17th as the pressure started to show. However, he responded with a two-putt birdie on the 18th and that allowed him to move one shot in front of Kevin Chappell.

Chappell is one shot in front of Robert Garrigus and Gary Woodland who remain in a tie for third but they will have their work cut out to overcome Hoffman.

The 2016 Texas Open winner insists he is enjoying his golf at the minute following a summer break.

Hofferman said: "When you're playing good, I always say golf is fairly easy. It's been a fun run the last month or two months, actually all year, and it's not very stressful, which is good.

"When you're trying to make cuts, that's when golf is hard. ... Have my family out for the next five weeks. They are off for summer break. It's been fun to hang out and go over to Europe with them and Canada. It's been a good, fun summer vacation."
