THE NAIL ART SPONGE, AN ESSENTIAL ACCESSORY

The nail art sponge is specially used to create color gradients. It allows to apply the varnish in one movement and to obtain a true fade of the hues. It is not difficult to get this simple accessory. Sponges are specially developed for nail art. They are sometimes sold in kit, with other accessories used for nail decoration. Nail art sponges exist in the form of small pads or fine brushes, very practical for handling. However, nothing requires you to use these special sponges. If you do not have one at hand, a small make-up sponge will do the trick. The foam of the sponge should be quite thin: the less dense the foam, the more delicate the gradient will be.

HOW TO MAKE A DEGRADED SPONGE?

To achieve a nail art gradient, you must first apply a coat of nail polish on your nails. This is usually the lightest color that is used. For the future, remember to protect the outline of your nails so that the varnish does not overflow the fingers. You then have to mix the two varnishes that will form the gradient. For a more precise blend, it is best to mix the two colors on a small sheet of paper and soak the sponge. A second technique is to spread the two varnishes directly on the sponge. The two colors are then affixed side by side and then melted. They must overlap to get the degraded effect.

VARNISH SET WITH NAIL ART SPONGE

Once you've applied the chosen colors to your sponge, it's time to move on to applying nail polish. Nothing complicated. The sponge is very easy to handle. Simply dab your nails lightly so that the gradient appears. The darker color is usually placed at the end of the nails. The first layer may be quite thick, but it will soften if you dabble a few moments. It is generally necessary to stamp several times for the gradient to be drawn well. It's up to you when it's time to stop, depending on what you're looking for. It is not necessary to put nail polish for each nail, you can use the same layer of paint for several nails.

Think of the little tips to perfect your gradient! Finishing with a layer of glitter nail polish allows for example to smooth your gradient and give it a real finish.
