If detox is fashionable, difficult (sometimes) to get the recommended foods and worse, to cook them. So when Deliveroo, a meal delivery service via Smartphone, offered to test a week of "healthy" dishes without ever going behind the stove, I jumped at the chance.
The test conditions were relatively simple: consume only dishes selected and delivered by the application for a whole week, three times a day.
Day 1, the one who gives hunger
Motivated and impatient, I received my first "breakfast" with a boiling appetite. A perfect crunola (include a banana puree with seeds and coconut) accompanied by a detox Elixir - a large cup of hot lemon water. Is. But where is my coffee? If it is not totally forbidden in the detox phase, it seems better to do without it. It follows, a "frugal" lunch and gurgles in the stomach all afternoon. Fortunately, the evening comes quickly and the feeling of empty stomach pushes me to move my dinner for an hour at least. A bad for a good, according to Rebecca Leffler, author of books on well-being: "early dinner allows the digestive system to rest longer, ideal for sleeping better and therefore getting up the next day with fishing".
The appeal of processed cheese
Rebelote the next day: a full and tasty breakfast, a light lunch and the irrepressible desire to throw myself on a chocolate filled around 15:30. My colleagues are rather encouraging and I resist shots of mint tea. According to the specialist, I could have succumbed to the call of chocolate but "rather black, which is much less caloric" ... Another good point for me? It seems that the mint is full of benefits both before the meal (cut the hunger) but also after, to facilitate digestion.
Throughout the week, I had the chance to receive - morning, noon and night - the packet of a smiling deliveryman and to taste the healthy specialties sold in different restaurants of the capital. Taste balance? Pretty delicious.
But - because there is a but - two shadows slightly tarnish this test size (and flavor) nature. First, it is not always easy to socialize when you have a strict and unique diet, despite the diversity of offers. Then, when it's really cold, the appeal of processed cheese takes another dimension and it's a little complicated to feast with a salad. For Rebecca Leffer, it is better to prefer hot meals when it is cold outside. "A red lentil curry, a quinoa-based quinotto or a creamy soup (with coconut cream of course) and gluten-free bread are all hot dishes that are perfect for a winter detox.
The balance of the experience?
Still, the experience convinced me of one thing: left to order from time to time on meal delivery applications like Deliveroo , as much as for healthy dishes (and detox). Because it is much easier to concoct a homemade burger than to make your own "bowl" of quinoa with various shoots and seeds.
If the experience tempts you too, here are my three favorite meals "healthy" (and the opinion of Rebecca Leffler, author of well-being books):
- Breakfast: Crunola Parfait, Elixir Detox from Le Pain Quotidien
"It's a great breakfast, both green and gourmet - and very simple to make at home, even without making your own granola, you can easily open a yogurt plant (coconut or soy), crush a banana in it and decorate it with seeds, nuts, dried fruit or a sachet of granola or the crunola case. This holds well, it's delicious and packed with nutrients - what's better? accompanying a large cup of hot water with lemon. In fact, I advise to drink it every morning when waking up. "
- Lunch: Marinated Salad Salad from Family Café
"A great option that makes the famous Cesar salad even lighter ... But for a day when it's not so cold, is it?"
- Evening: Big Winter Detox Soup, Lemonade, Fruit Paradise
" Nothing better than soups in winter to detoxify the body, rest the digestive system and boost immunity."
