Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly targeting Manchester United's Premier League home game against Tottenham on October 28 for his return.

The 35-year-old has not yet penned a new one-year deal at Old Trafford as he continues his comeback from a serious knee ligament injury which he suffered in a Europa League tie against Anderlecht in April.

However, as we have previously reported, it appears that Ibrahimovic is close to agreeing terms and is now working hard on his rehabilitation.

The Swedish star was not expected to return until early 2018, but his progress has been impressive, with one report on Thursday suggesting he could be in Jose Mourinho's squad for the visit of Spurs in just over two months' time.

The news will be a big boost to boss Jose Mourinho as Ibrahimovic's 28 goals helped the side lift the EFL Cup and win the Europa League last term.

The Portuguese tactician has assembled a squad he hopes can challenge for the Premier League title and progress into the latter stages of the Champions League this term while their EFL Cup defence will start with a visit from Championship side Burton to Old Trafford in the week commencing September 18.
