Reload your smartphone without plugging it in: the new Ikea bet

Soon no need to plug its charger to reinflate the battery of our cell phone ... The mere fact of putting it on a piece of furniture will be enough to reload it. This is the new challenge Ikea has launched. Indeed, the Swedish furniture giant kit will sell from April 2015, a collection of furniture and objects equipped with a laptop charger by induction. Bedside table, lamp, desk and sofa could be equipped. Do not want to change all his furniture? It will also be possible, for twenty euros, to acquire only the block with induction charging technology . It's up to us to place it wherever we want.

How does the Ikea induction charger work ?

To make this possible, Ikea relies on the Qi standard , currently the world's leading wireless charging standard. Only holders of a smartphone with this function, can thus recharge their battery by induction .

Among the lucky ones to be able to use the Qi technology: Google Nexus or Nokia Lumia terminals. The all-new Samsung Galaxy S6 (due out in the coming months) should also be outfitted. Other phones could become compatible Qi by adding an additional accessory.
