American John Isner has won the Atlanta Open for a fourth time after beating compatriot Ryan Harrison in the final on Sunday.

The big-hitting 32-year-old has dominated the tournament since it began in 2010, reaching seven of the eight previous finals, with his success this year following up his triumphs in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Isner, who has moved up to world number 18 following his latest victory, did not have it all his own way against Harrison, he eventually prevailed 7-6 7-6, although he conceded he could easily have lost the match.

"There wasn't much that separated us at all," Isner said. "So I'm happy to win that match in straight sets... very happy to win today.

"It was a battle and took every ounce of my energy out there. Just more importantly, I'm so happy to win this tournament again."

The former US Open quarter-finalist is on a good run of form and his latest victory in Georgia followed up his success at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships earlier this month.

Isner will be hoping to maintain his current form for the rest of the season, with the final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open, starting at the end of next month.
