Former Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman has spoken out about Jodie Whittaker’s casting as the first female-bodied Doctor in the series, saying she can’t wait to see what the actress brings to the show when she takes over as the 13th Doctor.
Speaking with The Telegraph, Coleman said: “Jodie is such a clever actress. I can’t wait to see what she does. I just want to hear her speak. It’s a really exciting time.”
Coleman of course has moved on with her career, taking the lead role in ITV’s period drama Victoria which will return to the network next weekend for its second series premiere.
Though it’ll be the general public who prove whether or not it’s a success, the actress said modern royals have spoken to her about the series, and have said “it feels accurate”.
Victoria returns on August 27, with Jodie Whittaker making her Doctor Who debut this Christmas in a special episode, before a new series led by the star next year.
