Asmir Begovic says the huge competition for the number one spot is a massive positive for Bournemouth this season.

Begovic joined Bournemouth from Chelsea this summer in a deal believed to be worth around £10million and the new arrival made his debut in the 1-0 Premier League defeat to West Bromwich Albion last Saturday.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international is expected to be the number one choice in between the stick this season, although there are three keepers waiting in the wings to take his spot if required.

Eddie Howe's new shot-stopper is happy with the extra competition for places in the goalkeeping department and the 30-year-old insists this will only help the team throughout the course of the campaign.

"I'm very pleased with the other goalkeepers, it's been such a good group, With Artur (Boruc), Feds (Federici) and young Aaron (Ramsdale) we push each other every day, bounce ideas off each other," he told afcb.co.uk.

"Everybody has perhaps a different way of thinking in certain situations so overall it's a great group to be a part of. Training is a lot of fun, I've been used to that for a lot of years, and this is no different."
