Nick Kyrgios is confident he will be back to full fitness for the US Open at the end of August following his hip injury.

The Australian has been troubled by the issue this season and was forced to retire in his first-round game at Wimbledon earlier this month against Pierre-Hugues Herbert.

The 22-year-old is hoping to play in the Citi Open in Washington next weekend before continuing to build up before Flushing Meadows, with the US Open starting on August 28.

"It's one of my favourite tournaments, so I'm definitely going to be playing that," he told Sport 360 about the US Open.

The world number 20 added: "I'm working hard at the moment. I've been back home, putting my head down, doing all the right things to get healthy. I'm doing rehab every day.

"I'm aiming for Washington in the US, so if everything goes well and I keep doing it, there's no reason why I can't be playing healthy in the next couple of weeks."
