This past weekend at Coachella, Lady Gaga took to the stage after being announced as the replacement for the now-pregnant Beyonce. Not only did she bring some of her greatest hits and newer songs to proceedings, but she also surprise-dropped a brand new single called ‘The Cure’, which has now shot straight to the top of charts across the world.
As she manoeuvres the top of pop culture once more, following her incredible Super Bowl performance earlier this year and the release of her latest album ‘Joanne’, Gaga has once again surpassed all expectations with this new track. Though she seemed to be moving into a territory more embedded with country and rock, she returns to her pop roots with ‘The Cure’, sounding more like the Ariana Grandes and Zara Larssons of the music world.
Of course, this isn’t a bad thing or a negative. Gaga continues to prove that she can weave within a multitude of different genres, breaking down the barriers that would have once plagued stars within the industry and showing that she’s more than willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the spotlight is on her.
Seeing her return to her poppier sound is long overdue and something long-time fans have been waiting for, for a while. Not only does she make her return to that sound, but she knocks her new single right out of the park. I for one cannot wait to see the companion music video.
