The mobile phone, a source of conflict
In December 2017, the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer confirmed the ban on mobile phones in schools and colleges in the autumn of 2018, even when it is difficult to restrict their use at home! Indeed, 81% of 13-19 year olds * have their own smartphone and spend on average 15h11 a week to surf the Internet . As for parents, 67% admit that the use of the mobile phone has already been a source of conflict with their children ...
Tips to limit the use of the smartphone
- The "point license" . The pupils of a school in the Tarn et Garonne were awarded 12 points that they can lose in case of misuse. Thus, a laptop that rings in progress = -2 pts; a publication on a social network outside breaks = -3 pts, etc. More points? The laptop must stay at home until a "probationary license" of 6 months. And parents are strongly encouraged to continue punishment at home.
- The digital detox with the family . The pros advise to define "zero-screen" areas and a framework of clear use that applies to everyone (yes, to us too!). For example: no phone at table and after 22h , and it is reloaded out of the room. And regularly launch a "detox challenge": 1 day without any screen, all together. Who launches?
