"Polo" and "Lauren", the first two creations Ralph Lauren


1980 marks the launch of Ralph Lauren's first two fragrances, one for women ("Lauren") and one for men ("Polo"). The latter will quickly become an international success and allow Ralph Lauren to become a reference in the world of perfumery. "Polo", also called "Polo for Men", was created in 1978 by Carlos Benaïm. His goal was to recreate the atmosphere of a polo field. Result: a fragrance of the family of green chypre, built around thyme, coriander, basil and mugwort on a background of oak moss, patchouli, tobacco and vetiver, all raised by a wedding chamomile and spices (cumin, clove and chili). This powerful and powerful fragrance constitutes a small revolution in the world of men's perfumery of the time, rather accustomed to the eau de toilette. But the perfume corresponds to the state of mind of America of the early 1980s, conquering and sure of it. He quickly became a success, and even influenced many creations of other brands like "Drakkar Noir" by Guy Laroche, or "Boss Spirit" by Hugo Boss.

Ralph Lauren followed with other creations like "Chaps" in 1979, then "Safari" and "Safari for men" in the early 1990s, "Polo Sport" in 1994 followed by "Polo Sport Woman", "Romance" in 1998, "Glamourous", "Polo Blue", "Blue for women" and "Lauren Style" in the early 2000s. In each creation, it imposes its touch of elegance and refinement. The "Big Pony", perfumes in series


In 2010, Ralph Lauren also launched the "Big Pony" collection, a series of four male fragrances available in four colors: green, blue, red and orange. Each one highlights different temperaments: the athlete, the seducer, the adventurer and the trendy.
