A hedgehog had to be popped after it blew up like a balloon.

Known as Monty, the hedgehog was unable to put one of his legs on the floor due to the balloon syndrome which is caused by gas collecting beneath the skin with no way of escaping, the Daily Mail reports.

Monty, who was popped with a needle, had blood on his nose when he was found by the RSPCA in Doncaster.

Now the hedgehog is healthy and putting on weight. He will be released back into the wild in two to three weeks.
