Satiety, what is it?
Satiety is the feeling of not being hungry anymore. The Satiety Index (SI), developed by Dr. Susanna Holt of the University of Sydney, Australia, compares the measurement of satiety of foods with equal calorie content. The subject eats food portions of 100 grams representing 240 calories. After two hours, a meal is again presented. The medical team measured the quantities absorbed. The fact is that some foods have a capacity to satisfy the human being superior to others.
The Satiety Index is therefore a good help to follow an effective diet in the long term. But it must not be the only criterion. In fact, the cheeses have a high index, but their proportion in fat is also very high. IS is to be handled with care.

The food satiety index
The control food is white bread with an index of 100. The higher the index of a food, the longer it cuts the feeling of hunger. With a figure of 323, boiled potatoes have the highest Satiety Index. Then come fish (225), oat flakes (209), oranges (202) and apples (197). Small surprise, the beef has only one index of 176.
At the other end of the index, we find croissants with a score of 47, and chocolate bars with an index of 70. We must therefore forget the sweet nibbles which, not only, are high in sugar but in addition, Do not eat less at the next meal!
