Adam Scott will need a new man on his bag in 2018 after Steve Williams confirmed their partnership is set to come to an end.

The golfing world has already seen the high-profile splits of Phil Mickelson and Jim 'Bones' Mackay, Rory McIlroy and JP Fitzgerald, while former world number one Jason Day has brought to a close his 11-year association with Colin Swatton.

And now it seems as though Scott and Williams' partnership will soon be dissolved as the Australian star wants a full-time caddie, something Williams could not commit to.

The New Zealander spent many years working with Tiger Woods but ended that agreement in 2011 and has been on Scott's bag on and off for the past few years.

The duo will link up for two PGA Tour events in Asia next month and then call it quits, according to the 53-year-old.

"I'm not going to caddie for Adam next year – he'll return to having a full-time caddie," said Williams. "He's had a job share where he's had two caddies for the last two seasons but he wants to return to one caddie next season. I'm not interested in caddying full-time any more, I've done that enough."

The Kiwi will carry for young American star Danielle Kang in this week’s MCKAYSON New Zealand Women’s Open and is looking forward to the event.

"I've never caddied at any professional women's event before, so it'll be a good experience to see if I can learn something from how they do things," he added.

"Danielle is a good player and once you start the tournament, you want to win, so nothing will change there."
