The Saint-Louis de Goyard tote will soon have a century, yet it still meets with success. His secret is a perpetual renewal and incomparable know-how. A true timeless work of art, this luxury bag combines elegance and practicality.

THE SAINT-LOUIS OF GOYARD: WHEN THE CABAS BECOMES LEGEND

Among the iconic bags, the Saint-Louis de Goyard holds a place of choice. The first Saint-Louis bag was created in the 1930s and brought the daily bag a breath of fresh air and luxury.

What is noticed first in this revolutionary bag is its material: the coated fabric Goyardine is indeed as famous as the Goyard bags. Its refined material resembles leather, but is composed of vegetable fibers (hemp, linen and cotton), perfectly worked, which give it flexibility and thermal properties.

The Saint-Louis bag is available in various colors, from the most sober to the most flashy. Its acid yellow or orange version can for example spice up a black or white outfit.

Constantly reinvented, this bag is popular with women around the world and continually dresses the shoulders and hands of stars. Kate Moss and her daughter use it as beach bags, Nicole Richie, Julianne Moore and Gwyneth Paltrow wear it for their shopping sprees.

GOYARD, HISTORY SERVING LUXURY

The Goyard House was created in 1792 by Pierre-François Martin, first of all as the Martin House. As a layetier, cabinet maker and packer, the house becomes the official supplier of Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Berry. Louis-Henri Morel succeeds Pierre-François Martin and the house moves to 347, rue Saint-Honoré, where it is still today.

When Louis-Henri Morel died in 1852, François Goyard took over and developed, for 32 years, all the know-how of his predecessors.

In 1885, his son, Edmond Goyard, took over the Goyard House and expanded it, creating commercials, taking part in World Expositions and imagining the Goyardine canvas, which became the emblem of the brand.

In 1998, Jean-Michel Signoles buys the house and redo, in the space of ten years, the glory, authenticity, innovation and luxury that the Goyard brand has always preserved.
