Fête du vélo: events throughout France

It is the rendezvous for lovers of the Petite Reine (nickname of the bike), the Fête du vélo offers many activities throughout France, with themes for this year 2016, Discovery and Form. Free, family and festive, these activities are all thought around the bike. On the program : Cycling tours in the Val de Seine, discovery tours in Paris, races, sports demonstrations, night strolls or flea markets all over France. French municipalities and sports and cultural associations are also invited, if they wish, to organize friendly gatherings throughout France.

The origin of the Bike Festival

Created by the Cycling Promotion Committee (CPV), the Bike Festival has been held since 1996 on the first weekend of June. Everyone can participate, small as big. 22 million French people regularly practice cycling ("Key figures for Bike Tourism 2012"), a figure that has risen in recent years as the cycle industry has grown by 7.5% in 2014 (according to the report of the Observatory of the Cycle, published in April 2015), classifying the Little Queen as a means of displacement impossible to circumvent.
