Monkeys in London
On May 24, 2016, the monkeys The Body Shop (2 meters high) did not go unnoticed! Settled on the Westminster Bridge in London , these five monkeys are of the rare red-shanked Douc species , threatened by poaching and the destruction of their natural habitat, and living in the Khe Nuoc Trong Forest at Vietnam. Those who stood in the heart of the London landscape near Big Ben were harmless because they were sculptures made of vegetable moss.
"Help Reggie find love"
The presence of these foam monkeys marks the launch in London of the new campaign to raise awareness of the British cosmetic brand The Body Shop . On May 31, 2016, this global campaign, "Help Reggie find love," will be launched, in boutiques and via social networks. The aim: to raise awareness of biodiversity and the conservation of the environment.
But, who is this Reggie? A small red-shanked monkey from Vietnam. And helping her to find love, especially helps to repopulate the forest of this threatened species. So to get there, by June 2016, every purchase made at The Body Shop will protect 1 square meter of forest in Vietnam, India and elsewhere. The brand hopes to restore 75 million square meters of forests and protect them from exploitation, poaching and unsustainable agriculture.
A colossal project made in The Body Shop
For this major project, The Body Shop teamed up with the English association World Land Trust and its Vietnamese partner, the Viet Nature Conservation Center to protect eco-walkways, restored and protected areas to help wildlife and threatened species to thrive. Patrols and cameras will also be set up for this purpose. Viet Nature also works with the local population to help conserve the environment . And this eco-gateway project will continue at the end of 2016 in the heart of the Garo Hills , to protect the famous mountains of India.
