This is without a doubt one of the beauty launches that has most intrigued us this year. The arrival in France of the Dafni, smoothing brush supposed to facilitate (greatly) brushing, promises to transform the capillary routine of wavy and curly hair.
The pitch of the brand
In 2011, Sharon Rabi, an Israeli electrical engineer and co-founder of Dafni, opted for a short cut on her curly hair. After unflattering remarks she buys a straightening iron to try to discipline her hairstyle and notices that it is difficult to get a perfect brushing. She then talks to her father, an engineer, who suggests creating a brush that diffuses heat to allow easy and fast hair straightening.
After 3 years of research and development, Sharon is developing the Dafni Hair Brush and demonstrating it in video on social networks. Success is quickly to go, bloggers, voters and other influencers of the moment quickly get the hook, until invading YouTube their striking before-after.
In practice
Consisting of a 3D ceramic surface that keeps the temperature to a constant degree, the Dafni brush allows easy, quick and controlled styling that does not alter the hair fiber. Passage after passage, the hair is smoothed. Brushing takes only a few minutes.
The price
The smoothing brush is sold 199 euros exclusively in the Sephora stores and on the e-shop of the sign.
The opinion of Diane, community manager and partnerships MC Maison.com
Hair type: fine and curly
Before.
Strong points: the user manual announces 60 seconds for the brush to heat up (which is already fast) but it even took less time than that. I find it very easy to use, more than plates to be smoothed with which one burns the fingers and one plucks out the hair. It was enough for me to brush the hair for a few minutes, more or less conscientiously according to the degree of smoothing desired. First time I liked to smooth my hair!
Weaknesses: the price, 199 euros, it remains a budget!
After.
Review of Sephora, journalist MC Maison.com
Hair type: very curly, fine and tight curls
Strong points: if at first glance, I did not find the design very attractive, the grip is very simple, the rapid lighting, and the fact that the object is presented as a brush really facilitates the gesture.
Weaknesses: I have very curly hair and this type of brush just is not made for my hair type. The effect was only very relative. On me, this smoothing must be imperatively complemented by plates. So I will not buy.
The opinion of Emmanuelle, head of the sections Pro Life, Psycho, Couple
Type of hair: soft curls randomly below
Highlights: no difficulty getting started! On the contrary, the brush format allows a rapid use. The brush quickly reaches its ideal temperature and uses "natural" gestures.
Result? Smooth hair without having the baguette (or burning) effect of some hair straighteners. The hair keeps a natural movement. More didactic than using the straightener that requires a certain technique (if, if) this brush helps to smooth hair quickly. It is handy and allows the smoothing of all the thickness of my hair in one gesture (or two). And since smoothing is more accurate (because less technical), it also holds longer!
Weaknesses: I have not seen any temperature settings, which could be a plus for some hair types. Other downside, the price: way too high compared to the use I would have.
The opinion of Orianne, journalist Beauté, Santé, Forme
Hair type: thick and curly
Highlights: The ease of use of the brush is almost disconcerting. Simply pressing the on / off button will cause the brush to heat up, and wait until the small button - red when turned on - turns green. I smoothed by taking thin strands of hair, brushing them very slowly, in order to relax the hair.
Weaknesses : with my hair type, several passages were necessary to get a wicked but never completely smooth, especially at the tips, where the result left a lot to be desired since the frizz was still present. The worst: just 20 minutes after the "smoothing", my hair gained in volume for no apparent reason (I was not yet exposed to moisture).
To achieve the promised result, I think it is necessary, for people with curly hair, to finish the styling with a smoothing iron, if only to fix the smoothing of the hair. In conclusion, the time saved on smoothing is lost on the styling. It is a brush that would be more suitable, in my opinion, to a nature of fine hair and already more or less smooth - slightly wavy to curly.
The opinion of Astrid, marketing manager MC.fr
Hair type: fine and wavy
Highlights: Easy grip, the same hand as brushing hair. Easy to use and the brush heats very quickly, it saves time. A few passages are enough for a smooth but natural result, neither effect baguette nor effect plated.
Weaknesses: I found the device very hot, you have to be careful when handling it. The brush takes up more space than a straightener in the suitcase. Its price, quite high compared to a classic straightener.
