The National Museum of Natural History of Paris unveiled Thursday, March 18 the new website of Jardin des Plantes , one of the most famous botanical parks in France. This site is intended to be participatory, and has a community space where green-screen users can share tips, experiences and information on their own blog. Posted on Saturday, March 20th .
Realized with the support of the Fondation l'Occitane, partner for the financing of the project, this new site intends to offer a digital showcase at Jardin des Plantes . In the first place, this portal will offer complete information on this famous park : interactive walk in the different spaces of the Garden (alpine garden, tropical greenhouse, perennial garden, etc.), behind the scenes of the Garden (gardeners, landscapers, etc.) , botanical collections , etc.
Visitors will also find all the practical information they need to plan their visit to the Jardin des Plantes , such as access, timetables, rates, thematic itineraries to download, as well as an agenda of conferences, parties and workshops.
An educational area will feature tree and plant factsheets from the Jardin des Plantes , as well as thematic dossiers and videos on plant biodiversity.
Finally, this site is open to the Internet community. The "My Garden" section is a mini-social network integrated into the portal, through which enthusiasts will have a personal space and a blog . The opportunity to exchange gardening tips, tell the experience of his garden or share photos and recipes of plants in his garden. The official blog of the site will give the floor to scientists, technicians and gardeners of the Jardin des Plantes.
This site, which will be accessible from Saturday, March 20, will be enriched later by new sections, especially devoted to the history of the Jardin des Plantes and children.
