THE POUND, THE NEW FITNESS TREND
The Pound began to be practiced in French gyms in September 2014. Right from the United States, this sport was invented by Kirsten Potenza and Cristina Peerenboom, two Californians who love sports and percussion. This is a new fitness program that focuses on rhythm and good mood ! More concretely, the Pound is a mix of Pilates and dance.
It is practiced with two Ripstix, sticks that remind the drumsticks of the drummer and used to punctuate the movements. The goal of the Pound is to work out and work the muscles of your body while having fun.
WHAT IS THE POUND?
A session of Pound lasts 45 minutes and allows you to burn an average of 500 calories! No special skills are required to practice this new discipline. Just wear a comfortable outfit, sport shoes and get two Ripstix.
From the beginning of the class, the music sounds and you start to hit your chopsticks between them or against the ground to set the pace. You must make many movements and hold poses for a few minutes to work your muscles. For example, when doing squats to strengthen the glutes , you must hit your chopsticks over your head and then against the floor when you bend your legs.
Then move to the sitting position to work the abdominals . You sit and have your legs bent and off the ground: the goal is to move your body to the right and then to the left to hit the chopsticks against the ground. The presence of Ripstix and music bring a very playful side to this discipline. An original experience that takes place in a very good atmosphere.
THE POUND, A COMPLETE AND EFFECTIVE DISCIPLINE
A Pound class requires some energy! You will let off steam and work all the muscles of the body, perfect to tone its silhouette. This new trend of fitness is for all ages: you can adapt the movements to your level and flexibility. The margin of progress will be bigger!
By practicing the Pound, you will burn calories and lose any extra pounds. You will also work on your cardio : if the course starts rather gently, the teacher then alternates between fast rhythms and milder exercises. The results are visible very quickly and your silhouette will be toned. Know also that the Pound improves your memorizing abilities as well as your coordination.
