Justin Thomas fended off the challenge of Jordan Spieth to win the Dell Technologies Championship in Boston by three shots.

The USPGA champion continues to have a remarkable breakthrough season, picking up his fifth title, and a final round score of 66 got the job done on Monday.

Australia's Marc Leishman looked to be in the box seat after he went out in 30, but bogeys at 10,11 and 12 hit him where it hurts, while Spieth also faltered over the last seven holes.

Thomas picked up birdies at 13 and 15 to put the final nails in the coffin and was delighted to get the job done against such formidable opposition.

"I'm excited," said Thomas. "It was just a really, really patient hard-fought week. It feels good any time you can get it done, but especially in a play-off event.

"I'm in a lot better shape now obviously for the FedEx Cup but I'm excited to have a week off and get some rest.

These (last) two weeks really felt like a long two weeks, they felt like three or four - a lot of travelling in between. I'm a little tired and excited to sleep in my own bed tonight."
