Lewis Hamilton is predicting the title fight with Ferrari will go down to the wire despite Mercedes' success at the British Grand Prix.

Hamilton's dominant victory at Silverstone has been dubbed a turning point in both the World Championship and the Constructors' Championship, with the Brit having led home a one-two for the Silver Arrows as their rivals suffered mechanical issues late on in the race.

The three-time world champion is still one point behind Sebastian Vettel at the top of the drivers' standings, heading into the second half of the season, but Mercedes would now appear to have the measure of Ferrari.

Mercedes have won three of the last four races and the gap between the two title rivals only appears to be growing, with the Scuderia struggling to keep up at Silverstone despite introducing an engine upgrade.

Hamilton is hopeful the Brackley-based outfit can capitalise on their current advantage although he would not be surprised if Ferrari regained their early-season momentum.

"I think it's difficult to ever say it's a turning point," said Hamilton. "I think ultimately there's constantly turns. Obviously the pendulum swung a little bit this weekend and I think that's only good for Formula 1, it's only good for the fans, probably super-exciting for them to see the close battle that we're continuing to have.

"Without a doubt we hope it stays the way that it's swung this time but, as you know, a pendulum swings. We're just hoping that we can be on our toes to react to whatever is thrown at us in the next races."
