Julian Suri and Richard Mcevoy are the joint-leaders at the Porsche European Open after carding opening rounds of 66.
Mcevoy, who has two Challenge Tour victories to his name but is yet to win on the main European circuit, made six birdies in a bogey-free display to set the clubhouse lead at -6.
The 38-year-old Englishman has been joined at the top by American Suri, who missed the cut at the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale last week, after the latter carded seven birdies and just the sole bogey.
Welshman Stuart Manley, South Africa's Charl Schwartzel, England's Chris Paisley and Frenchman Alexander Levy are all a further stroke back on -5 after signing for rounds of 67.
American Patrick Reed, who also failed to make the weekend at the Open, heads a group of nine players that are sitting on -4, two strokes off the pace. The 26-year-old is joined on that mark by Spaniard Eduardo De La Riva, Scottish duo Craig Lee and Stephen Gallagher, Swede Jens Fahrbring, English pair Ashley Chesters and Laurie Canter, Portuguese Jose-Filipe Lima and Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat.
Europe's 2018 Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn struggled to a two-over-par 74 while England's rising star Eddie Pepperell, who finished tied-23rd at Open de France last time out, is also on that mark.
