Mark Webber feels Sebastian Vettel needs to become more aware of his rivals after crashing out in Singapore.

The Ferrari star started on pole at the Marina Bay circuit but his move off the start line across Red Bull's Max Verstappen saw the pair crash, while Vettel's colleague Kimi Raikkonen was also ruled out of the race.

Blame was thrown around by both teams straight after the race but the stewards cleared all three drivers, declaring it a racing incident.

Webber drove alongside Vettel at Red Bull and as part of his analysis for Channel 4, referred to a move the German pulled during the 2010 Turkish GP.

The Australian said his former team-mate should be absolved of some of the blame for Sunday's crash, although he believes the four-time world champion needs to make himself more aware of those around him.

"There's absolutely no way that Sebastian knew Kimi made such a fantastic start, so he's now focusing on Max," Webber told Channel 4. "Kimi's made the best start out of all of them and then there's an absolutely shocking timing of events where they've just run into each other.

"Max Verstappen, totally innocent, absolutely innocent. Seb did try to protect heavily to the left. Kimi got the biggest penalty ever for a great start. It just destroyed the race.

"I think sometimes Seb forgets that where the back of his car is not where the back of his car is!"
