Tapered hair , degraded cut , square neat ... not always easy to choose the right haircut. And to answer it may even turn to dilemma for a woman, because not everyone puts the same hairstyle behind these terms.
So to help you find the right haircut and communicate correctly with your hairdresser, here's the difference between a gradient cut and a tapered cut.
Graduated cup gives volume to the hair
If you want to get volume and movement, the gradient is a perfect technique for your haircut. The gradient consists of cutting hair strands shorter than the others, to create volume in the hair. A gradient cut is just as possible on short hair (like Victoria Beckham) than on long hair (behind her wavy Gisèle Bundchen has a degraded cut).
The scissors side? The hairdressers take wicks more or less thick and cut them straight, using mostly conventional scissors. This technique makes it possible to obtain a "staircase" effect which densifies and brings movement to the haircut .
Tapered hair: a finishing technique
If you want to give pep's to your hairstyle and lighten some locks of hair, your haircut may need to be tapered. This technique is often associated with a short cut (like Laëtitia Halliday or Rihana hair version XS). But nothing prevents the realization on long hair (like the famous Rachel Cup of Jennfer Aniston era Friends).
The scissors side? When it tapes your hair, the hairdresser usually uses special scissors, notched, or even a razor. This more aggressive technique is not ideal for damaged hair since it does not take into account their fragility. The tapered cut nevertheless allows to refine the strands of hair and create a movement in the hairstyle. Attention, when one has naturally thin hair, one avoids the tapered cut that will further refine the hair ... And especially this one is really likely to be difficult to style and set up.
