Warrington have confirmed they have signed Tonga international Sitaleki Akauola ahead of the 2018 Super League season.

The 25-year-old has decided to move on from NRL side Penrith Panthers and he has agreed a two-year deal at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

His deal will be completed once he receives a visa but the Wolves are expecting it to go through smoothly as they try to confirm their Super League spot for 2018.

Akauola is set to replace Ashton Sims in the Warrington pack and the forward admits he cannot wait for a new challenge.

He said: "For me personally it's a really good opportunity to give me that extra drive. I've heard a lot about the Super League so I am excited and looking forward to the new challenges.

"I know there's a lot of quality players at the Warrington club so hopefully I can add something to that. I like the crash and bash in the middle.

"I've spoken to Peta about the move, he's said nothing but good things. He loves it over there and since he moved the players have all made him feel very welcome which is good to hear.

"I'm looking forward to being part of Warrington Wolves."
