Organic as ... from organic farming

The Ecocert and Cosmebio certified wipes must meet two criteria: the support must be in organic cotton and the lotion that permeates the wipe must meet the bio specifications (maximum 5% of synthetic and minimum 10% of organic ingredients, a rate obtained using a floral water and / or a plant extract).

The rest of the formula contains water, but also perfume, sometimes alcohol, and preservatives that can be irritating ... Especially since the product does not rinse!

Ecocert certifies wipes when they replace the use of a disposable support, such as cotton.

But if you want to be 100% green, you will not use either: his fingers to remove makeup or a washable fabric for babies!

Bio as ... biodegradable

A wipe is said to be biodegradable if it is broken down naturally by living organisms. A dead leaf is 100% in a few weeks while a plastic bottle requires 4,000 years. That does not mean that we can throw it in the nature!

Admittedly, an organic cotton wipe impregnated with organic chamomile water will have an impact on the environment less than a conventional wipe, but it is especially an additional waste that will end up in the trash, and as it does not enter selective sorting, towards the incinerator ...

Our opinion

Bio, biodegradable, or both, it does not matter. Wipes remain the symbol of disposable society, anything but sustainable development. They will therefore be reserved for a very punctual use, in a travel bag or stroller kit.
