Adwoa Aboah: the anti-conformist
Shaved skull, freckles, deep voice and street style certainly street ... The singularity of this young woman of 25 years breathes a breath of fresh air in the world of fashion. An environment in which she has been bathed since childhood since her parents are at the head of the highly respected CLM agency, a London agency that manages the career of photographers and fashion stylists.
While studying drama at Brunel University in London, Adwoa stood out at eighteen and signed her first modeling contract with Storm. Her career will then take a turning point when the young woman is still facing a severe depression.
From Dior to Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, H & M and Versace, Adwoa fascinates them all. Very close to the model and actress Cara Delevingne , she scrolls for larger houses, covers prestigious titles such as Vogue Italy or iD and was voted " Woman of the Year 2017 " by the British monthly GQ.

Her life has not always been as beautiful as it is today, far from it. Like most teenage girls, Adwoa suffered from low self esteem. Under the influence of her friends, she smokes her first joint on her 14th birthday. The following year, at the famous Glastonbury Music Festival , the teenager tries ecstasy and cocaine. His various experiments with drugs are gradually turning into an addiction to ketamine and an alcohol addiction.
While her modeling career takes off, the young woman, badly in her skin, navigates between cures of detoxification and depression. A slow descent into hell that will lead to a suicide attempt in October 2015, plunging her into a coma for four days. Later, Adwoa will confide that she now considers this date as that of her " second birth ".
Today healed, Adwoa is taking advantage of her celebrity to highlight mental health and addiction problems. In an interview with StylelikeU as part of the What's Underneath project , she tackles her old demons without speaking, but also tells the story of her struggle to overcome them.
It is also in this perspective that she founded Gurls Talk in 2016, an online community whose goal is to help girls around the world who, like her before, suffer from addiction, hatred of self or depression. Adwoa describes it as a safe place where young girls can share their problems without fear of being judged. This caring community allows her not only to move forward but also to help other girls get by " Gurls Talk is exactly what I needed when I was in school " .
