Harlequins have been boosted by the news fly-half Demetri Catrakilis does not require surgery on a broken bone in his throat.
The 28-year-old suffered the injury during the Quins' 28-17 Aviva Premiership victory over Gloucester at Twickenham Stoop on Saturday and he was taken to hospital after he stopped him breathing for a matter of seconds.
Catrakilis, who was making the second competitive appearances for Quins since arriving from Top 14 side Montpellier in the summer, took a nasty blow to the throat from a shoulder barge.
At the time director of rugby John Kingston said: "We needed to get him to hospital...It is precautionary but when you get a blockage like that, it is something you have to react quickly to.
"It was a shoulder to his throat. That was causing him difficulty and, indeed, he did not breathe for a few seconds. But then he started to and the oxygen helped him after he came off the pitch."
The South African-born player is still in hospital, but his club revealed on Monday that he does not require an operation to repair the damage.
"Harlequins fly-half Demetri Catrakilis remains in hospital after sustaining a small fracture to a bone in his throat during the match against Gloucester Rugby on Saturday," read a club statement.
"The 28-year-old does not require surgery and Harlequins will provide a further update when available."
