Children can now build their own 'Star Wars' droid.

For the first time, children and die-hard fans of the hit sci-fi franchise will be able to create their own custom droid and bring it to robotic life.

With the help of littleBits electronic blocks technology and the free Droid Inventor app, owners will be able to teach their R2 Unit new tricks and take it on 16 missions and can even be levelled-up by using their expertise to give it new skills including being controlled by The Force.

The kit comes with everything needed to build and create the popular R2 unit and components can be used to build any droid you dream of.

R2-D2 is one of the most popular characters in the entire franchise and, along with his companion and fellow droid C-3PO, is the only character to have appeared in every 'Star Wars' movie to date.
