Chloë Grace Moretz reports that she experienced fat shaming through a former co-star.
When she was just 15, the incident in question happened, which strongly influenced the pretty blonde. So she reports: "This guy who was my crush said to me 'I would never date you in real life' and I said 'What?' And he replied, "Yeah, you're too fat for me" because of my weight. He was one of the only actors who ever made me cry on the set. "
Afterwards, the 20-year-old told her brother about the incident, which would have been furious. The subsequent filming was probably the hardest days of the career for the actress: "I had to pull myself together and go back to the set and pretend that he was my crush - it was really hard ... That makes you realize that there are some very bad people out there. For some reason he felt the need to tell me that. " Nevertheless, she tried to end the incident and "forgive" her co-star. Because of her young age, however, the situation led her to a "very, very dark" place.
Speaking to the 'Power of Young Hollywood' issue of 'Variety' magazine, the star adds that male actors have a "minority problem": "Then I thought 'we're equal and you're no different from me "I just happen to be in the leading role in this film. I don't know why you are pushing me into a corner and trying to make me small just because you have the less important role."
