Wantaway Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho is set for talks with boss Jurgen Klopp next week before being accepted back into his squad.

Coutinho wanted to join Barcelona in the summer transfer window but the Reds rejected at least three bids from the La Liga giants, maintaining for the past month that the Brazilian was not for sale.

Coutinho has not played for Klopp's side so far this season, citing a back injury, but he was fit enough to come on as a sub and score for Brazil in their win over Ecuador on Friday and is now expected to return to Merseyside early next week, where he will meet with Klopp to discuss the situation.

The 25-year-old's state of mind may not be great amid claims he was very down over his failure to secure a dream move to the Nou Camp but Klopp said earlier in the transfer window that he had no problem with the former Inter man and would be happy to reintegrate him back into the first-team squad when he was fit.

Barca are believed to still be interested in the playmaker and are expected to either return with a new bid in January or next summer - when Liverpool may be more open to a deal if they can line up a replacement.
