The 'Friday the 13th' game has now already sold almost two million copies.

The title has been undermined by a number of problems, including issues with its in-game single-player mode, but that has not appeared to damage its popularity among gaming enthusiasts.

In a statement, studio head Wes Keltner said: "It's been a long two months from our team here at Gun and IllFonic.

"We have had an incredibly supportive and dedicated community since we launched, and while things haven't been completely smooth we definitely feel confident moving forward."

He also said that the studio is working diligently to improve the single-player aspect of the game.

Wes explained: "The team has grown and we are committed as we work to add more content, more kills, more to do, and of course the single player component to the game."

What's more, the firm announced that the physical release of the game will launch on October 13th - meaning it will chime with its title.

Recently, the game got a patch on Xbox One that markedly improves performance, while it also fixed a series of bugs with the title.
