Leeds Rhinos have been hit by the news Keith Galloway will miss the rest of the Super League season with a ruptured Achilles tendon.
The 31-year-old prop only returned to action three months ago following a similar injury he suffered to his opposite leg towards the end of last season.
However, Galloway was forced off just 12 minutes into the Rhino's 10-7 win against Hull FC at Headingley on Friday night and the severity of the injury has been confirmed by coach Brian McDermott, who described it as "devastating".
He added: "We really missed him against Hull and we’re going to miss the ultimate professional he is for the rest of the season."
Galloway, who will also miss Scotland's World Cup bid in October, is not expected to return to action until next year.
Leeds, who have guaranteed second place behind Castleford Tigers in the regular season, will now get four home matches in the Super 8s stage of the Super League campaign.
Wigan Warriors are up next on Friday and McDermott is hopeful that both Ryan Hall - who scored his 250th career try against Hull FC - and Stevie Ward will recover from the respective head injuries they both suffered against the Black and Whites.
