Peta Hiku has conceded that the Warrington Wolves' fans may have to wait to to see him at his best after his recent move.

The New Zealand international will make his home debut this Friday as the Wolves take on Leigh Centurions at home.

He admits he is excited for his first outing at the Halliwell Jones Stadium after playing in last week's 26-12 defeat to Wakefield Trinity.

After starting the game in the centres, he was then moved to full-back after an injury to Will Dagger but he admits his fitness levels are below standard.

As a result, he has warned the Wire fans that they may have to wait to see him at his best.

He told the Warrington Guardian: "I enjoyed the game but my lungs were gone at full-time. My legs were tired and I started cramping up late on but that match fitness will come in the next couple of games.

"I enjoyed being out there with the boys and the Warrington fans who turned out were great. The rest of the season is going to be key for me personally to learn more about the boys and how they like to play.

"The more games I get to play, the more I will get to know the plays and hopefully that will make me more effective."
