Before declaring war on ingrown hairs, it is important to understand the phenomenon.
An incarnated hair is a hair which, for one reason or another, fails to pierce the skin barrier, and therefore continues its ascent under the skin.
It is unsightly, sometimes painful and in the worst case infectious.
Why do we have ingrown hairs?
Unfortunately, we are not all equal before ingrown hairs.
Some factors favor their appearance:
- The nature of the hair : the curly hairs are more prone to bad regrowth and the fine hairs have more difficulty to pierce the dermis.
- The thickness of the skin : the thicker the skin, the less the hairs succeed in piercing the dermis.
How to prevent their appearance?
An ingrown hair is a hair that does not grow properly. This is why it is necessary to be very careful when we stripe.
It avoids shaving "quickly done badly" because a hair cut in the wrong direction has more chances of evil repelling and being incarnated.
So you shave in the direction of hair growth.
The same applies to waxing, tweezing or epilating.
Note that with an epilator, hair tends to be broken at the root without removing the bulb. It remains under the skin.
Also, the more the hair and their bulbs are torn off, the more they grow fine. As a result, it is more difficult for them to break through the skin barrier.
So what to do to avoid ingrown hairs?
- Exfoliating treatments : a massage with a horsehair glove or a scrub once a week (or even two if our skin is not too sensitive) to eliminate dead skin and do not suffocate our hair under the skin. The ideal is to do our care the day before the epilation.
- Moisturizing the skin : morning and evening it is important to moisturize your skin. Special mention for vitamin A or fruit acid creams that have a reputation for refining the skin's grain.
How do you make them disappear?
To remove an incarnated hair two solutions are available to us.
The first is to call upon a dermatologist , specialist of the problem.
The second, to do it ourselves, provided you are sure to know how to do it so as not to hurt yourself and make scars.
If we still want to eliminate our ingrown hairs, some precautions must be taken:
- Exfoliate the area.
- Place a compress of hot water, but not too much, to dilate the pores of the skin.
- Exert pressure with this same compress, on both sides of the zone.
- Remove the hair with a tweezers disinfected with an antiseptic spray.
- Disinfect the area.
