What is rattan?

It is a pale yellow wooden thong used to make furniture. It comes from several species of Asian plants that look like palm trees. In the natural state, the rattan is in the form of long gray stems, covered with thorns, which can measure up to 200m long! Unlike bamboo, whose stem is cylindrical and hollow, the rattan consists of a set of fibers forming a solid cylinder. In the 70s, this wood a little rustic and very brilliant had its heyday. Since then, the rattan was a little forgotten to become vintage (understand a little old). But it has been some time since it operates a nice return and finds its place in all the rooms of our houses. No longer reserved for garden furniture, rattan now gives character to indoor benches, suspensions and beautiful mirrors ... for a natural and chic effect at a time!
