So when I was offered to discover "hypnosis to lose weight", I jumped at the opportunity!
Lose weight by the power of thought? A bit too good to be true ...
Lose weight by thought, it was almost too good to be true. So here I am at the doors of Club 13 in Paris, to attend the recording of the first show "I lose weight with hypnosis" initially broadcast in May 2016 on the channel MCS.
The goal? Offer to curious viewers, an experience of hypnosis without moving from their couch.
Jean-Jacques Garet, hypnotherapist for over 25 years and author of a book on hypnosis to lose weight, will be the master of ceremonies of this special show: four appointments to learn about hypnosis, open his mind to this science of brain manipulation and start to lose weight.
Better yet, the hypnotherapist gives us advice to apprehend self-hypnosis in order to pursue autonomy in this discipline, after the broadcast of the show. Between two anecdotes, he insists that his sessions are much less impressive than those of Mesmer who regularly hypnotizes people on television.
Dubitative, I come to sit in the test room in the middle of 60 viewers and some other journalists.
Relaxation and contact with "Shaun" the guardian of our right brain
After having explained to us the main lines of hypnosis (concentration, self-esteem, and subconscious management), the hypnotherapist invites us to sit comfortably in the Club 13's leather chairs.
Jean-Jacques Garet then asks for silence and a little concentration, while a soft music resounds. I close my eyes and the session begins: the hypnotherapist speaks with a haunting voice. He asks us to concentrate first on our left hand, to feel the ends of the fingers and to lift it. Except that despite all my efforts, she does not move.
He then invites us to go even further into our subconscious and to get in touch with "Shaun" the guardian of our right brain. Shaun is the little dummy character who lives in our subconscious. He is responsible for our memories but also our assets (language, bike, etc.). It is therefore with him that we must discuss to enter a state of hypnosis. It is also he who manages my addictions apparently and so it is to him that we must inculcate new, healthier reflexes in the diet, using the Pavlovian reflexes.
A journey in the meanders of the spirit
The hypnotherapist keeps talking about his soft voice and keeps a story that seems to make sense, but I can not keep up. From there, my hypnosis buddies and myself sink into a second state from which it emerges that after about twenty minutes of this endless speech. Jean-Jacques Garet makes us travel in our mind, chat with Shaun, find beach memories, smells ... well, I think.

Jean-Jacques Garet reassures us and accompanies us during this phase of awakening where memories of this hypnotic initiation go back one by one.

After a month, the vast majority of its patients claim to have lost between 2 and 4 kg: what motivate to go to the end of the experiment. In conclusion, we are presented with a journalist from MCS Bien Etre, who also took part in the exercise upstream, and she tells us half-heartedly that she is already conquered by this method.
So I leave motivated and intrigued, eager to continue the experience on television. And if it works, I will try hypnosis to stop smoking or sleep better .
